#RusticRoundUp #2 Fireplaces

Nothing says rustic glam or mountain modern like a statement making fireplace. Anchoring the living room, recreation room or the master suite, fireplaces are essential for vacation homes in cold locales. It's a practical and beautiful addition to any mountain home.

Right now, I am in the process of designing my own fireplace for our vacation rental. It's going to cover an entire wall in the main living area. So, it needs several key features like mixed materials, rustic but modern styling, space for a television, built in lighting and shelving.

The photos below were oh so inspirational to me. Hope you enjoy them, too!

Two way fireplaces are pure luxury. This one is beautifully done with a combination of concrete, stone and steel. It's an eclectic mix that works!

I love the simplicity of this fireplace with it's reclaimed wood facade. There is mantle and no tv - very serene.

Some days I regret not building a timber frame or log cabin home for our vacation rental. This lovely fireplace and it's gorgeous surroundings are why...this carved stone surround is an amazing counterpoint to the rustic wood.

Talk about large and in charge! This fireplace is huge! But, I love the warm brown wood and sleek incorporation of the TV.

This arts and crafts style fireplace gets a rustic infusion with the stone pillars and pretty scenery just beyond it. The attention to detail here is stunning.

A fireplace for all of your farmhouse lovers! It's bright and white with a lovely soft grey stacked stone.

This lake house has a unique feature to store wood. I tried to integrate something similar into the design that I am working on. The window seat is another coveted feature.

Design - McClellan Architects

It's moody and dark and I love it. Yes, there's a lot going on but this is one sexy fireplace. I love the integration of the scones. I'm totally stealing this idea.

Design - Ryan Group Architects

This grand fireplace is one of my all time favorites. It's a hardworking fireplace with a TV and storage but the ceilings are so high that it is also the home of a huge bison head. It is gorgeous!

Well, that's it for this week's #RusticRoundUp fireplace edition! Come back next week!
