When you see a house, one of the first things that you see is the front door! To maximize curb appeal and create an enticing entry, a grand front door is vital. If you've been following along, you know that my husband and I are building a vacation rental in Wintergreen, VA. Since the windows and doors had to be ordered pretty early on, we were asked to choose a front door as one of our early design decisions.
We really wanted a 4 or 5 panel door with frosted glass encased in solid wood which would then be stained a warm gray (like photo #1). We quickly realized that none of that was actually an option! We couldn't have real wood because the house is in the mountains and the weather conditions are simply too harsh considering that our front entry does not have a porch that fully covers the area. Our contractor uses Pella Architectural Series doors. They do not offer the door style that we want in that product. So, we settled on a wood grain fiberglass Pella door with either a 2/3 glass panel or a 1/3 glass panel. And, that is as far as we have gotten which leads me to my #RusticRoundUp! I need inspiration so I scoured my favorite online sources and came up with this list! I hope that you are as inspired as I am!

#1 This is the door! I originally wanted something like this in real wood. I love glass doors and the light that they let shine it. This contemporary style balances mountain and modern beautifully (Wright Family Custom Homes)
#2 The side lights make this solid wood door inviting. The door also has steel accents (clavos) and paneling that add interest. (Linwood Custom Homes).

#1 The open gable porch extension on this photo looks like what I hope ours will become. Right now, the house does not have a any sort of porch, but the architect is working on it - long story for another post! I love the way this door compliments the tree trunk columns. (Old Hampshire Designs)

#1 Another awesome wood and trim combo. I see the consistency in the photos that I like and this really helps to refine the overall design. So, check....wood grain door that matches wood gable accents and columns. (Living Stone Design + Build)
#2 Another bold choice - red trim and red door with a metal ledge roof. (Murphy and Co. Design)
Row # 4 (Left to Right)
#1 On a lighter note, this door screams custom, light and fresh. I love the white washed finish and complimentary tones in the entry hall. (Brandon Architects - follow them on IG!)
#2 The suspended walkway here leads to a sleek entry of an all glass, black door. Due to the distance of our house to the rock cropping in front of it, the architect has determined that we will need a walkway just like this...so it makes sense to consider the materials for the door and the walkway at the same time. Last row - This 6 pane window is lovely in a warm gray which is gorgeous with the reclaimed wood and the industrial siding. (Holy Cross Custom Builders, LLC)
